Region
A second wine is the term for a premium wine made by an estate that is second only to their Grand Vin. These wines are produced from the same vineyards as the grand vin but at a more accessible price and can be a great introduction to their `older sibling`. In the vineyard and winery, these wines generally receive the same treatment as the grand vin however, the overall blend and maturation are different.
Producer
This estate is one of the oldest in Margaux, and has had a chequered history. The Sichel family purchased the estate in 1961 and has revived the fortunes of this pretty lakeside chateau. The combination of sand and gravel soils found in this area of southern Margaux are ideal to support both Cabernet Sauvignon and a high proportion of Merlot.
Tasting Notes
La Dame d`Angludet is made from the same vineyards and with the same dedication as Chateau Angludet itself. The strict selection in vineyard and from cask ensures the finished wine shares the same finesse, complexity and elegance of a fine Margaux. Supple dark fruits, licorice and spice notes are held by assertive but ripe tannins that ensure this wine can be enjoyed when young but will also allow further maturation.
Food
A good match for fine cuts of beef, roast lamb, wild mushrooms, game including venison, boar and hare and well flavoured cheeses
