Region
The Coteaux d`Aix is north and west of the university town of Aix and is the furthest West of the Provence region, with predominantly limestone and sandy soils. The Mediterranean climate is marked by the Mistral wind bringing dry and cooling conditions from the North. It is inland and benefits from relatively cool summer nights due to the altitude, retaining acidity and produces elegant dry rosé wines and fruity and well-structured reds from a combination of Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon along with whites from local varieties such as Vermentino.
Producer
This beautiful estate is located 15km north of the medieval city of Aix, in the heart of Provence. The vineyards lie along the south bank of the Durance river. Under the direction of James de Roany, his traditional dry Provençal rosé is made by the saignée method of `bleeding` the fermenting juice from the skins to preserve the delicacy and character of Provence rosé.
Tasting Notes
A dry and elegant rose from a historic Chateau in Provence. Pale partridge eye pink in colour with aromas of ripe stone fruits, cherry blossom and a touch of fresh raspberry on the nose. The palate is crisp and refined with summer berries and a fresh grapefruit acidity.
