The Oakwood range begins life in the same way as all West Country Farmhouse Cheddars. Each Cheddar is made by hand at the Dairy in the beautiful Dorset countryside, using the highest quality, full-fat milk sourced from local herds that graze the rich pastures of the Ashley Chase Estate and its surrounding areas. Once pressed and bandaged, the truckles are left in the stores for several months, until they reach optimum maturity.

 

The Smokehouse
Ford Farm has developed a close relationship with a local smokehouse where all smoked varieties – Oakwood and Dorset Red – are matured.

 

This artisan smokehouse carries out the process with great care, attention, and passion, ensuring the cheeses take on just the right balance of smoky flavour to make them irresistibly moreish.

 

Oakwood is one of Ford Farm’s multi award-winning brands, offering a rich, full farmhouse flavour with the distinctive addition of a subtle smouldering smokiness.
